WE KEEP NATURAL DYES ALIVE !
"Preserving the art of Khmer
natural dyeing means preserving the legacy of our Khmer ancestors," KHMER ARTISANRY
RESULT OF WAR
People with know-how in natural dyeing and making the naturally dyed silk
and cotton scarves in traditional handlooms have either perished during the
Khmer Rouge brutal regime or now too old to revive the custom.
OUR OBJECTIVES
KHMER ARTISANRY is fully committed to:
WE ARE CONCERNED
We, young Khmer entrepreneurs who are among the very few concerned people
who found KHMER ARTISANRY, are very mindful of the significance of the danger of this near
extinction of our cultural heritage.
SAVING THE TRADITION IS OUR TASK
We now commit to locate some of those rare survivors to help reinstate the
endangered tradition. We strongly encourage them to continue this tradition. If
they are too old to resume their traditional silk and scarf weaving task, they can
teach the skills and impart their knowledge to the younger generations who are
now becoming the active and promising members of the weaving communities.
WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON REVING THE NATURAL DYES TECHNIQUES
Our conviction is to see the mystery of light in naturally-dyed silk
fabrics and cotton scarves and textile quality, beauty and locally extinct
weaving techniques, which lost in the last few decades, come into existence
again and enduringly.
